Capstone Component Map

CAPSTONE RUBRIC

Pedagogy: 40%

1. Develop course using backward design

2. Develop a plan for a variety of assessment strategies for students that align with objectives.

3.Develop a comprehensive yet flexible summative assessment that creates a showcase for the students acquired mastery of subject content. .

4.Establish comprehensive and compelling essential questions for each module.

5.Use a variety of teaching methods and technology tools that will make the learning process both challenging and enjoyable.

6.Sequenceing course content to allow for both growths of new ideas as well as reflection on past experiences.

7.Intergrate differentiated instruction to take into consideration different learning styles.

Design: 15%

1. Effective educational use of Wiki’s within the course management system and the overall course design.

2. Strategic integration of Blogs within the course management system.

3. Collective use of social networking tools such as: Furl, FlickR , wayfarer, google earth, del.icio.us, and RSS to enhance the learning process.

Configuring Networked Learning Environments: 15%

1.Develop a basic understanding for the various technology tools that an instructor can use in moodle,

2.Demonstrate a working knowledge of moodle in the role of course developer.

3.Build and develop educational files on moodle for future reference to reconfigure educational content.

Online Research: 10%

1.Use a variety of online research tools to aid in developing resources for my online course.

2.Have students use online research tools to collaborate ideas with teacher & peers.

3.Make sure students understand what sources are reliable and accurate.

Legal and Ethical Issues: 5%

1.Develop a code of netiquette.

2.Make sure students follow the school guidelines for Internet use.

Planning for Change:15%

1.Develop a strategy for implementing a component for a freshmen study skills course on how to use moodle, bogs, wiki’s and social networking tools.

2.Develop a strategy for staff development for using moodle, blogs, wiki’s and social networking tools.

3.Develop a strategy to inform parents, administration and the school board on how the implementation of online education will be a valuable addition to our school’s action plan.

4.Help develop job a description and personal relationship with the school’s technology specialist who will be responsible for installing and maintaining the school’s CMS.

5.Make sure students who take the online course have access to the school’s computer lab if they do not have access at home.
